What can I use in my yard to stop deer from hanging around?

Question by Daisymae: What can I use in my yard to stop deer from hanging around?
Is there something non-toxic but yet deer won’t like it that I can spread on my lawn? I love the critters but they keep eating all my plants (e.g., impatiens, hosta, azaleas, daylilies, violets etc.).

Try putting some offensive smelling hand soap near your plants. Like Coast soap.

What do you think?

    Motion activated sprinkler.
Yup.. it sprays water on them when if they get too close.
    Just google it.

Another option is red pepper; you can buy a large container from Home Depot Pest Section.
Sprinkle it around plants; next time the deer sticks his nose in there he’ll be sneezing until tomorrow.
It’s also good to keep raccoons and neighbors dogs from coming by your house.

Hair clippings… dead serious. Go to your nearest beauty salon and ask them for their hair clippings. Deer won’t go near it… the human scent and all.
