You are given two equations that must intersect to be solvable. There are two unknowns, hosta value and grass value.
163 = 10H + 9G and 114 = 10H + 2G
Solve one of these for a letter
(163- 9G)/10 = H
Now replace the H in the second equation with what H equals from the first equation.
114 = 10[(163- 9G)/10] + 2G
114 = 163 – 9G + 2G
