Can you bring a hosta inside in a pot and have it thrive?

Question by Wendy M: Can you bring a hosta inside in a pot and have it thrive?
I currently live in Pa and will be moving to Florida. I have several hostas outside and would love to bring some with me to have indoors. How will they do?

You can grow hostas as an indoor plant, but you need to keep them in cool conditions, out of direct sunlight. Hostas, prefer loose, well drained soil. Add some compost and mix well. That should do fine for the container you put them in.

Hostas LOVE Florida! I have tons of them. All kinds. Why not just plan on potting some up for the trip and replanting this bit of home at your new residence here in Florida? One of mine is one I brought from the old family homestead in Indiana.
They just need to be in deep shade or on the north side of your house and are pretty care free.
