What are the best perrenials to plant outside?

Question by Rachel P: What are the best perrenials to plant outside?
I found some gerber daisies that I love but I read somewhere that daisies should be kept out of direct light and not in extremely warm environments. I live in Alabama and it gets super hot here. What are some perrenials that will last in the heat if I put them in a flower bed outside?

Question by No Shortage: What is wrong with my hostas?
They have flourished and flowered for six years, and now the leaves are brown and have small holes all over them. What is wrong with my beloved plants, and how do I save them? Thank you.

(P.S. I have other plants mixed in with them, and they are fine. We just got back from vacation, and I’m wondering if the hostas got too dry?)

Question by Patty-kins: How do you get f;flowers to grow in a place that won’t grow grass?
I’ve tried growing grass in this small area, for about 4 years now and the grass seed won’t take, so I thought about some type of flower seeds like daisy or mums. Theres a fence and used to be a tree there to but it was cut down last year. Any Ideas!

Some times pH has a lot to do with the color of plants . Try to think back if you applied any different chemicals, etc. in the area. Is there H2o run off from your house or from a neighbors? Could it be that your neighbor has applied something to their soil? Another thought is, did you bring in new soil?
Also, has the lighting changed in the plants area?

These are just a few ideas to start brainstorming.
I hope it helps.

Question by Sillygirlme: Ack it’s attach of the violets! Help me save my plants please?
Partial shade flower bed so everything is only barely hanging on as it is, this summer it’s attack of the creeping violets. I tried pulling by hand but no sooner do I get it under control they come back with a vengeance and are over taking everything even the hostas. How can I get rid of the violets without harming my flower & plants?

Question by John: I accidently sprayed my hosta and stella d’oro plants with round up?
I was trying to kill some weeds around my plants with round up when I must have accidentally misted the plants. Half of the plant died and I lost all flowering on these plants. I know both types of plants are strong. Will these plants come back next spring or should I consider replanting them? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
