Friday, August 24th, 2012Frozen hostas Japanese Maples?
Wednesday, August 22nd, 2012Question by bina64davis: Frozen hostas Japanese Maples?
My hosta’s were beautiful due to the 70 & 80 temps we had in the middle and end of March. However, the temps dropped back down to the 20’s and they all wilted and died. Do I need to trim the dead stuff off in order for them to come back, and better yet, WILL they come back? And my Japanese Maple leaf’s also turned dark. Will these also come back or will the tree be leafless this summer?

Monday, August 20th, 2012My japanese maple hasn’t re-leaved since a late hard frost, but its sprouting @ the bottom. Is it dead?
Sunday, August 19th, 2012Question by SayWhat?: My japanese maple hasn’t re-leaved since a late hard frost, but its sprouting @ the bottom. Is it dead?
Obciously there is some life to it since there are new leaves at the very base of the trunk. It was in full glorious bloom until we had a very hard late freeze. All the leaves withered and died and nothing has come back on the branches or along the trunk except at the very base. I want to salvage this expensive tree that has been the centerpiece of my prized hosta bed. Should I cut it back or what?
