I have abouy 6 of them. Some are small and some of the larger ones seperated when they were dug but seem to be fine. What kind of light do they take and how far apart do I plant them?

They don’t like full sun, 3or4ft apart should be good you can plant something with color and small in between will look good Good Luck

I have six new hostas and they (in May) have started to grow vertical stalks where they would normally bloom in the fall. Is this normal, why is this happening, should I prune them?? Please give advice.

Don’t prune them, its normal. If you prune them you won’t have any blooms during the summer/fall.

Hostas will grow best in rich organic soil. A loamy soil type may not need the addition of organic matter, but few of us are so lucky to garden in ideal soil and will need to add organic amendments. The recommended soil is well drained, has a slightly acidic pH, and is enriched both with nutrients and organic matter.

Hello New York from Great Britain No you are not too late to split your Hosta, it would have been better to have done it earlier, you will not kill the plant but you will delay or inhibit blooming.
